Satellite Dish Options

Satellite dishes come in various sizes and brands. Different brands have different signal levels. Naturally,the bigger the antenna the better the signal levels. Multichoice have always recommended a 90cm dish irrespective of the decoder model. It is common thought that only HD Pvr should use 90cm satellite dish for DStv.

Most companies install a 60cm dish with most dstv installations.We are just as guilty due to the competitive market.

We offer various brands and sizes of satellite dishes.When having your dstv installed you should consider the following

  • The size and brand of the dish
  • The Lnb ( Low noise block filter/feedhorn

Due to the competitive market,cheap chinese mild steel satellite dishes are used for most dstv installations. There are good quality satellite dishes available on request. If your budget allows,we recommend the visiosat dish. A little pricy but well worth the investment. Visosat dishes come in 60cm and 90cm sizes.

Xtra View

Xtra View is a product launched by Multichoice and involves the installation of 2 decoders to give you a dual view option.

2 standard decoders - For 2 viewing environments, 2 different channels can be viewed and changed to give you a dual view option.

1 standard decoder and 1 HD PVR - This also gives you a dual view option but with the added functionality of recording.There are 3 additional high definition (HD) channels(Mnet HD,Supersport HD,Discovery HD)only available with the HD PVR. With this Dstv installation you could watch and change 2 different channel while recording 2 more channels.

HD PVR installation options

The HD PVR Decoder has 3 installation options.

  • Quad LNB- Requires 4 cables from the Satellite dish
  • Twin LNB with a Multiswitch- Required 2 cables from the satellite dish and works in conjuction with a Multiswitch
  • SatCR Lnb - Single cable installation, This is our prefered method of installation. Being a single cable installation, it is a neater option than the quad or twin lnb options. The HD PVR fully caters for the SATCR LNB.
